Schedule: Full-Time, 2nd Shift & 3rd Shift (Includes weekends)
Schedules (Full-Time):
- 2nd Shift:
- Saturday, Sunday 9:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday, Friday 3:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m.
- 3rd Shift:
- (Weekday) Monday-Thursday 11p.m.-9a.m.
- (Weekend) Friday 5 p.m.-9 a.m. Saturday, Sunday 9 p.m.-9 a.m.
About the Role: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will play a key role in supporting aging participants in the Supported Living Program by assisting them with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, mobility, meal preparation, and medication administration. The CNA will work closely with the team to promote independence, dignity, and overall quality of life for participants. Candidates will be required to complete agency-mandated training to become certified as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). This certification is required and a condition of employment. This comprehensive on-site training, provided by Search, will equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to support Search participants.
This position reports to the Supported Living Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Assist participants with activities of daily living in the areas of medication administration, toileting, eating, grooming, bathing/showering, dressing, etc.,
- Assist participants with medication administration and maintain documentation in accordance with DHS Rule 116,
- Maintain direct and continuous supervision of participants at the program site and on outings to ensure their safety and well-being at all times,
- Demonstrate knowledge of each participant’s Implementation Strategy and goals, Risk Assessment, Behavior Plan, diet orders, and other clinical information, and assist them in working on goals related to these areas,
- Coordinate with agency departments to ensure participant health, safety, community engagement, and promote human rights and dignity of risk,
- Ensure proper vehicle use and maintenance in collaboration with Transportation Manager,
- Support community integration, including Search for Adventure, special recreation, and Special Olympics,
- Maintain program environments and ensure site compliance with agency and state standards,
- Collect documentation of participant progress and daily records,
- Maintain agency and state standards on cleanliness, safety, and staff performance,
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Certified Nursing Assistant certificate (IL),
- High School diploma (U.S.) or equivalent,
- Ability to interact with nonverbal communicators,
- Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance,
- Ability to pass literacy and medication administration tests,
- Ability to meet and maintain Pace certification requirements,
- CPR and First Aid certification, training provided,
- Ability to work holidays,
- Comfortable with technology and documentation systems,
- Ability to lift up to 44 lbs. and perform physical moves such as kneeling, reaching, crouching, bending, and twisting,
- Completion of the Search, Inc. Direct Support Professional certification for Illinois within three months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
