Where We’re At
FY27 State Budget
On June 1, 2026, Illinois lawmakers approved a $55.9 billion FY27 state budget that preserves funding for community-based disability services, behavioral health programs and employment supports. The budget includes a $0.60 per hour wage increase for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), effective January 1, 2027, and maintains $2.35 billion in funding for community-based intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) services, including waiver and residential programs.
Lawmakers also approved Medicaid updates that strengthen support for providers, continue funding for community mental health services and improve reimbursement processes. As shown in the FY 27 budget, Illinois remains committed to improving services and supports for people with I/DD.
