Visibility Arts
Visibility Arts fosters artistic expression and connection by offering an empowering space for professional and emerging adult artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Through a blend of group learning and hands-on studio time, artists can explore, learn, create, and share their work with the wider community.
A Creative Part of Every Day at CDS
Visibility Arts is an essential part of our Community Day Services (CDS) offered at all of our locations in Chicago, Lincoln Square, Norwood Park, Evanston and Mount Prospect. Here, artists develop skills, express themselves through diverse media and build confidence. Participants also have opportunities to mentor students in local schools, share their talents and inspire the next generation.
Art With Impact Through Your Support
Visibility Artists regularly exhibit and sell their work in galleries and public venues across Chicagoland and beyond. When someone purchases a Visibility Arts painting or product, they directly support our artists, with original paintings returning 100 percent of the purchase price to the artist. For printed pieces such as glassware, candles and other items, artists receive a commission for their artwork.
Beyond original artwork, Visibility Arts offers a curated product line that includes prints, glassware, candles, holiday cards, bags, stickers and more. These items are available at art shows, community events and at Planet Access, our social enterprise store in Lincoln Square.
Community Art Classes
Visibility Artists lead community art classes and workshops for schools, organizations and corporations. Sessions inspire creativity and connection for participants of all skill levels and ages. Past workshops include Print n’ Sip classes, self-care grounding techniques and art journals and hands-on paper landscape creations.
